PostSubject: Elenin mystery won't go away!   Wed Aug 03, 2011 11:18 am

This is extemely coincidental to say the least.

Two Astronomers murdered for trying to disclose information on Comet Elenin

The two men died of an acute encephalomyelitis. Disseminated acute encephalomyelitis or encéphalite post-infectious or encéphalite périveineuse are an inflammatory disease démyélinisante central nervous system. It is usually secondary with a viral, bacterial infection or with a vaccination but can also appear spontaneously. It consists of an auto-immune ignition leading to the destruction of the sheaths of myéline in the substance white, and present in this respect similarities (physiopathological, clinical and paraclinic) with the pushes of multiple sclerosis. It is a rare disease whose incidence is worth 0,8 cas/100 000 personnes/an and who preferentially touches the child and the teenager, the majority of the case occurring between 5 and 8 years. This fulgurating disease perhaps inoculated by means of an aerosol, very often arms used by the CIA.

The two astronomers died at 5 days of interval of the same disease, and which more is of an extremely rare disease. They were specialized in the observation and the research of comets. Death threats by the US government nothing to reveal on their discoveries concerning the trajectory and the real size of the comet Elenin, they persisted in wanting to reveal the facts with the general public but in vain. A few weeks later, the trajectory which is given officially to the general public by NASA will be obviously false. Work of Marsden and Sandage showed a proximity too much important. The consequences would be a bursting of the earth’s crust on the totality of the sphere. A true cataclysm. Half of humanity will be decimated. TO BE CONTINUED ON THEIR WEBSITE

this doesn't surprise me at all..pisses me off.. but not surprized
especially after they killed Gene Shoemaker http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/sl9/news81.html

and i think the chemtrails are more to hide things in the sky than anything else..just my opinion of course
but i have always asked..what don't they want us to see..

yep get some groceries almost time to circle the wagons

ok..if you look at the projection of elenin crossing the earths path it crosses in an ecliptic course right before the earth hits that same spot in our orbit
now here's another of those what if's that are playing havoc in my brain lately
what if
this little trojan is in front of us and gets hit and we get to go thru the debris field..hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm
not the same as being hit by the comet but still nasty

It was realized in 1772 that small bodies can stably share the same orbit as a planet if they remain near ‘triangular points’ 60° ahead of or behind it in the orbit1. Such ‘Trojan asteroids’ have been found co-orbiting with Jupiter2, Mars3 and Neptune4. They have not hitherto been found associated with Earth, where the viewing geometry poses difficulties for their detection5, although other kinds of co-orbital asteroid (horseshoe orbiters6 and quasi-satellites7) have been observed8. Here we report an archival search of infrared data for possible Earth Trojans, producing the candidate 2010 TK7. We subsequently made optical observations which established that 2010 TK7 is a Trojan companion of Earth, librating around the leading Lagrange triangular point, L4. Its orbit is stable over at least ten thousand years.

Comet Elenin Images from STEREO-B spacecraft
By admin– August 3, 2011
Posted in: Comets and Asteroids

The approaching Comet Elenin has triggered suspicious and fearful speculation among some observers. A contribution to this brouhaha has been the lack of images of this visitor from deep space, but at last there are images from a NASA space observatory of this oncoming comet.
On 1 August 2011 Comet Elenin (C/2010 X1) passed within just 7 million km of the STEREO-B solar observatory spacecraft. Taking advantage of this happy coincidence, the spacecraft was physically rolled to allow it to spend an hour capturing images of the little comet and its coma with its wide angle HI-2 instrument.

This diagram of the inner Solar System shows the positions of both STEREO spacecraft on 1 August 2011. (Image credit: NASA)

This is a similar diagram showing the orbit and position of the comet for the same date. (Image credit: NASA)

The STEREO spacecraft will make hour-long observations every day for the next week or longer until the comet enters its normal field of view. Then the comet can be continuously observed into September with other instruments, such as the SOHO C3 coronagraph.

Astronomers expect that the comet will become significantly brighter to STEREO-B over the next few days due to an effect called ”forward-scattering” when sunlight is reflected of the dust in the comet’s coma directly towards the spacecraft . This is purely an observational artefact of STEREO-B’s position with respect to the Sun and comet and does not mean anything significant is happening to the comet itself.

The first images show Elenin to look just as you would expect a small comet to look. No tail is visible yet. It is clearly not a planet-sized body, or a brown dwarf or a red dwarf. It is exactly where it was expected to be. Hopefully this will reassure the worried that this is just another comet (like the much more interesting Comet Garrardd (visible with binoculars near Pegasus).

Comet Elenin as seen by STEREO-B, and what we think is going to happen next...
Few comets have generated the hype and blatant misinformation that Comet Elenin has. For some reason, an object that was predicted to be possibly quite bright and pass relatively close to Earth, has been distorted into something that some allege could destroy the planet! I have received emails of genuine concern from people fearing Earth's tides and continental plates will be altered, and/or that debris from the tail will strike the Earth. These are absurd claims.

On July 31st 2011, the much-hyped Comet C/2011 X1 (Elenin) passed within 0.049AU, or about 7-million miles, of the STEREO-B spacecraft. Over the coming few days, it will pass almost directly between the spacecraft and the Sun, and offer us an unprecedented early view of this highly anticipated object. As a scientist on the STEREO project, and an obvious comet enthusiast, I am very excited at this event, but my excitement is tempered somewhat by concern at how STEREO's dynamic view of Elenin could potentially be very misconstrued over the coming days. Here's the full story, but if you have a short attention span, the paragraph marked "Appearances can be deceiving" is the crucial one here.

STEREO sees Comet Elenin
Beginning August 1st 2011, we started to roll the STEREO-B spacecraft for two hours per day to observe Elenin. We were unable to maintain this roll angle (~135-deg) because it negatively impacts the science return from all the other instruments on STEREO which rely on the 0-degree roll angle. Why did we even have to roll at all? Here's a good analogy: If you look through a cardboard tube, you can easily see a crowd of people 30ft away while missing a person standing 12-inches to your right. That was STEREO's problem -- the comet was so close, we would actually miss it at our nominal roll angle! So we are rolling the spacecraft and are observing it... successfully!

On the left is the first set of images taken of the comet on August 1st, 2011 (click the image for a bigger animation). You can easily see the comet moving against the background star field on the center-right of the images. (Sirius is the big bright star that is 'bleeding' down towards it, and M42 and the constellation Orion can be seen on the left.) This small fuzzy ball is what all the fuss has been about. It's clearly not a "second Sun", or a brown dwarf, or giant super-comet, alien spacecraft, or any other such fanciful object. It's just an ordinary little comet. It doesn't even have much of a tail visible -- just a nice central nucleus and classic diffuse coma. It is somewhat reminiscent of Comet Holmes from a few years back, but is substantially smaller than that object.

This is just a cropped subfield of the full field of view. You can download all the available original images from this 2-hour block from the links at the bottom of this page. These images are FITS files so you will need an appropriate viewer of some kind (e.g. DS9). The field of view is 70-degrees wide, and the images have a resolution of 1024x1024 pixels, so this corresponds to ~15-pixels per degree, making Elenin appear to be approximately 1-degree wide right now, if a little less.

And here's an important point to note if you are concerned about this comet approaching Earth: when these images were taken, the comet was almost FIVE TIMES CLOSER to the delicate STEREO-B spacecraft than it will ever get to Earth. Five times! That's some 20-or-so million miles. Concern about this comet is completely unwarranted.

Appearances can be deceiving
So we've seen what Elenin looks like, and hopefully concerns over the nature of this object have diminished somewhat. But there is a twist in this tale, and it is crucial to understand what we think we could see over the next few days: we predict that Comet Elenin is going to appear to get significantly brighter in the STEREO images over the coming few days. But this is not cause for concern!

The STEREO-B spacecraft is a long way from Earth. As you can see here, it's over half-way around the Sun from Earth (Elenin is the white asterisk right next to STEREO-B). As Elenin crosses the STEREO-B images, it will appear to get closer to the Sun as seen from the perspective of STEREO-B, and as it does so, it will appear to get much brighter. For comets, we call this process forward scattering, and without going into the depths of the science, it means that the sun is back-lighting the comet, and the dust and ice crystals are reflecting and enhancing the apparent brightness of the comet by scattering that light towards us.

Of course the comet will get inherently brighter as it gets closer to the Sun -- they all do this -- but that effect will be quite minimal compared to forward scattering. The effect of forward scattering can be tremendously strong, enhancing an object's brightness by several orders of magnitude (depending upon how "dusty" the comet is), and that is what we anticipate seeing in the STEREO-B images over the next two weeks or so. After that it should fade somewhat again.

It is worth noting that we will also witness this effect from Earth in late September when the comet reaches its minimum elongation. However, the comet will be so close to the Sun in the sky that it will only be "visible" during the daytime and hence probably not easily visible at all as the bright sunlight overwhelms our eyes. By the time Comet Elenin has moved far enough from the Sun for us to see from Earth, this forward scattering effect will be substantially lessened. This was one of the reasons that astronomers initially felt that Elenin had the potential to be extremely bright: had it been a large dusty comet (which we now know it is not) then it could have provided a truly spectacular view, even in the middle of the day. But the comet is quite ordinary, if a little on the small side, and certainly seems to be much gassier than it is dusty.
In summary...
So here's the bottom line: On July 31st, Comet Elenin passed harmlessly by STEREO-B at a distance almost five times closer than it will ever reach Earth (so I'm quite confident that Earth will cope just fine with its passage!). Beginning August 1st we successfully rolled STEREO-B in order to see it, and plan to continue to do so for the next few days. We are predicting that from the perspective of STEREO-B, it could appear to get significantly brighter. This brightening, however, would not be "real" in the sense of the comet actually physically changing, but is instead a consequence of it being close to the spacecraft while increasingly in line with the Sun. Comet Elenin will get to approximately 0.23AU (~35-million miles) from Earth in October 2011, and if we are very lucky could be just about bright enough for naked-eye viewing in good twilight conditions. In late September it will cross the SOHO/LASCO C3 field of view, and we will certainly have lots of great images and movies to show at that time. Please enjoy the show!

Welcome to the home page of the SOHO/LASCO and STEREO/SECCHI comet program, based in the Solar Physics Department of the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, Washington D.C.

On this website you can view and submit reports of suspected comets visible in LASCO and SECCHI satellite images. You will find information on past comets found by both instruments and from other spaceborne and ground-based instruments. There is also a wealth of information here designed to help newcomers discover their first SOHO or STEREO comet! In addition, pictures and educational resources that can be used both in the classroom and at home are shown throughout the site.

SOHO is the most successful comet discoverer in history, having found over one thousand eight-hundred comets in over thirteen years of operation! What's even more impressive is that the majority of these comets have been found by amateur astronomers and enthusiasts from all over the world, scouring the images for a likely comet candidate from the comfort of their own home. Absolutely anyone can join this project -- all you need is an internet connection and plenty of free time! (See the FAQs for more information.)

STEREO is a pair of near-identical satellites designed to monitor the Sun from very different viewpoints in the solar system. The imaging instruments on STEREO (known as the SECCHI suite) are of similar design to the LASCO instruments on SOHO, meaning that we see many comets in the SECCHI data. Due to a longer data processing time for SECCHI, most near-Sun comets are discovered first in LASCO images, but an increasing number of objects are now being found in SECCHI data.

Follow the "Introduction" links on the left for more information about both SOHO and STEREO.

Comet Elenin is attracting more and more interest in the scientific community
August 10th, 2011 | Author: Leonid Elenin

NASA
Comet Elenin is attracting more and more interest in the scientific community; at the end of July observations were made on the largest submillimeter telescope in the world JCMT. Since August 1st, observations are ongoing with the space telescope STEREO-B; they will continue for several weeks. It is probable that the comet will be visible in the field of the COR2 (STEREO) coronagraph beginning August 20. Beginning September 23rd, for 6 days, the comet will be visible in the field of view of the LASCO C3 coronagraph on the SOHO spacecraft.

Very recently I received information that several more spacecraft may observe comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin), specifically Venus Express and Messenger. These observations will allow us to obtain unique information about the comet at the time of its perihelion when it will not be observable from the Earth.

Observations are planned with SPICAV UV in the 110-310 nm wavelength band on the Venus Express spacecraft and Messenger’s MASCS spectrograph. Moreover, by simultaneous observations from two spacecraft with different points of view, with the VMC camera on Venus Express and the MDIS camera on Messenger, it is possible to obtain a three-dimensional model of the comet’s coma! It is possible that comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin) may become the brightest comet that these two spacecraft may observe during their entire time of service. I hope this application is approved and the observations take place.

Hi everyone: I am sure everyone has heard of the approaching super planet called Nibru, Comet Elenin or other names as it is called. Weell it appears that Leonid Elenins personal website, spaceobs.org (or spaceorbs.org) along with various videos has been removed from the web. It appears (as some are saying) the government may be hiding an event leading up to the year 2012....Below is a short excerpt and several links for followup, if anyone here is able to offer further information to let us know what's going on. I think this may recquire some serious follow-up lest we be caught off guard. As the old saying goes: "Prevention is the best medicine." Not that we can prevent such an event but we can at least be prepared just in case.

Elenin’s trail across the sky caught in photos

Elenin expected to become brighter in the next few days

Janelle Vreeland 5 hours ago

The comet Elenin came within 4.3 million miles of NASA’s twin Stereo sun-watching spacecraft and was caught on film as it passed. As Space.com reports, “The comet was seen by Stereo’s HI-2 telescope between Aug. 1 to 5, and by the higher resolution HI-1 telescope between Aug. 6 to 12,” NASA officials said.

According to NASA officials, Comet Elenin is expected to become brighter over the next few days and could be detectable with Stereo’s coronagraph instrument between August 20 and September 1.

Gazers from Earth may be able to see Elenin with the naked eye by late August. Then the comet will appear as a “fuzzy star” with a tail.

Although NASA and stargazers are seeing Elenin as another amazing comet, some are viewing Elenin’s presence as something more.

In a press release, the I.D.E.A. Foundation is claiming that Elenin’s presence during the France Peace Festival is a “galactic response to consciousness shift.” The release further states that the foundation says Elenin “represents a change in Humanity’s position in the Galaxy and is the harbinger telling us it’s time for us to implement the final phase of a 42,000 year plan that includes the Founding Fathers secret destiny for America in Washington State.”

Comet Elenin was discovered in December by Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin.

I had a dream about a comet close to earth, dont know what to make of it, except in the dream it was blue with a tail.

Also that the government have developed a secret computer program that deals with it directly.

Comet Elenin and asteroid 2005 YU55
August 16th, 2011 | Author: Leonid Elenin

L. Elenin

I have received many questions as to whether these two objects may collide, or whether they might come so close to one another that they can change their orbits to head directly for Earth. Categorically – NO. Minimum distance between the two objects will happen September 13 (three days after the comet passes perihelion), and that distance is 0.1688 a.u., on the order of 25,252,000 km – 10 million km less than the distance of closest approach of Comet Elenin to our planet, which will take place October 16.

As you know, May 21 was the closest approach of Comet C/2010 X1 to asteroid 1999 RQ176; the objects passed all of 225,830 km from each other, more than 100 times closer than the minimum distance between Comet Elenin and asteroid 2005 YU55! After that encounter, new position measuments of the comet and asteroid 1999 RQ176 were obtained. On such a short timescale no influence was noted, which means it is practically nil. For that reason, we can absolutely precisely say that Comet Elenin and asteroid 2005 YU55 will pass by one another and it will not even be noticeable!

false .....

I'm starting to think Leonid Elenin is Santa Claus.

An imaginary character that rides in the sky.

For that reason, we can absolutely precisely say that Comet Elenin and asteroid 2005 YU55 will pass by one another and it will not even be noticeable!

yeah..ok...fine..but what about trojan 2010 TK7..????????????? hummmmmmmm

i think something for sure is going to happen in october..just don't know what exactly

Asteroid 2005 YU55 Meets Comet Elenin’s Debris Tail at Earth on November, 2011
Asteroid 2005 YU55 discovered December 28, 2005 by Robert McMillan of the Spacewatch Program near Tucson Arizona is expected to cross between the orbit of moon and the earth, passing the earth by only 204.502 miles at around the exact same time the Earth is expected to smack into the debris tail of Comet Elenin, in the beginning of November 2011

ASTEROID 2005 YU55 – closest on November 8 to November 9, 2011 at .0022 AU from Earth

Approx. November 6, 2011 – Earth crosses Elenin’s Orbit and smacks into Elenin’s debris tail. Elenin, Earth, Mercury and Venus are in alignment. Elenin is .359 AU from Earth and 1.301 AU from the Sun.

According to the discoverer of the comet Elenin, Leonid Elenin “The comet is absolutely safe for the Earth. It will be held at 34 million kilometers, .232AU, from Earth.” Interview with russian Astronomer Leonid Elenin

But we have our doubts about the explanation of Leonid Elenin,( NASA’s Boogie Man?) It seems that his explanation are the words of NASA, “Comet Elenin will not encounter any dark bodies that could perturb its orbit, nor will it influence us in any way here on Earth, i will get no closer to Earth than 35 million kilometers, .232AU.” http://www.space.com/11617-comet-elenin-wimpy-solar-system.html

Moon and Mars meet face to face tomorrow morning
Posted on August 24, 2011 by astrobob

This will be the view looking east tomorrow morning (Aug. 25) around 4 to 5 o'clock. Mars is still far from Earth but shining relatively brightly at magnitude 1.5. Maps created with Stellarium
Insomniacs and those rising early for work can look to the east tomorrow morning for a great view of the waning crescent moon and planet Mars. The two will be only about 3 degrees apart and form a very distinctive duo in the constellation Gemini the Twins. They’re in good company. Orion and his famous 3-starred Belt are just an outstretched fist to the right, while further up you’ll find the equally striking Seven Sisters star cluster or Pleiades (PLEE-uh-deez).

Through a telescope, Mars is disappointing at the moment, because it’s too tiny to make out many features. Come this winter and next spring, our view will greatly improve as the Red Planet and Earth draw closer together.

Comet Elenin is fading; Doodlebugs on Mars?
Posted on August 23, 2011 by astrobob

Pictures taken on Aug. 19 and 23 with the same equipment and exposure show how much the comet has faded in recent days. The photos were made with a standard camera lens and don't show the tail like 'deeper' images taken through a telescope. Credit: Rob Kaufman
The other day I wrote how unpredictable comets can be, one of the main reasons they’re so fun to follow by eye and telescope. After a nice show of steady brightening in the last few weeks, at least two dedicated comet observers – Michael Mattiazzo and Rob Kaufman in Australia – observed that C/2010 X1 Elenin has faded by about a full magnitude (a factor of 2 1/2) over the past several nights. Not good news, but not the end of the world either. Comets brighten and fade as “jets” of vaporizing ice entrained with dust turn on and off on its surface.

I’d rather it would continue to brighten toward a naked eye display this October when the comet’s closest to Earth. It still might, but it’s also possible that Elenin may fizzle out, especially if the fragile comet nucleus were to break into pieces.

Michael’s animation shows a slight elongation of the larger, bright nuclear region, the fuzzy, dusty area that hides the comet itself. Could it be an indication of a break up? We can’t be sure, but time will tell. For all we know, Comet Elenin will return to its previous brightness expectations next week. For more photos and animations, I encourage you to visit Michael Mattiazzo’s Southern Comets Homepage. http://members.westnet.com.au/mmatti/sc.htm

Looks like there was an ejection from Jupiter on 31st August that blew Elenin up into 2 pieces and knocked it off it's course.

Dutchsince put it up, but knowing his popularity with Youtube, it could well be taken down soon.

Not only that folks, BUT when it was blown apart, it showed that it contained an triangular spacecraft inside it.

Weirder and weirder...
