This looks like a stargate. I get an intense feeling when I stare at this pic.

One of my favorites. I saw an interesting picture the other day of a phantom hand holding up a star (I believe). I tried to copy it but couldn't get it to work. If anyone knows about the picture I'm talking about I'd love to see it posted here.

ney, gabe, credit goes to lightning, i just helped post it....

but here is one from me:

"IT LOOKS like a soap bubble or perhaps even a camera fault, but the image at right is a newly discovered planetary nebula."

It may well be a lens reflection? It still is an interesting picture. A stargate? A 4th density object bleeding through? All kinds of possibilities.

Lighting Up the Night Sky
Lightning over the Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39A competes with the xenon lights on the pad illuminating space shuttle Discovery waiting for a scheduled liftoff on the STS-128 mission. Launch was scrubbed due to the weather and another launch attempt is scheduled for Aug. 28. Discovery's 13-day mission will deliver more than 7 tons of supplies, science racks and equipment, as well as additional environmental hardware to sustain six crew members on the International Space Station. The equipment includes a freezer to store research samples, a new sleeping compartment and the COLBERT treadmill. The mission is the 128th in the Space Shuttle Program, the 37th flight of Discovery and the 30th station assembly flight.

NASA:

NGC 6302

Butterfly Emerges from Stellar Demise in Planetary Nebula NGC 6302

"This celestial object looks like a delicate butterfly. But it is far from serene.

What resemble dainty butterfly wings are actually roiling cauldrons of gas heated to more than 36,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The gas is tearing across space at more than 600,000 miles an hour -- fast enough to travel from Earth to the moon in 24 minutes!

A dying star that was once about five times the mass of the Sun is at the center of this fury. It has ejected its envelope of gases and is now unleashing a stream of ultraviolet radiation that is making the cast-off material glow. This object is an example of a planetary nebula, so-named because many of them have a round appearance resembling that of a planet when viewed through a small telescope".

Now this one is better than the other day isn't it Gabe?

Explanation: On the upper right, dressed in blue, is the Pleiades. Also known as the Seven Sisters and M45, the Pleiades is one of the brightest and most easily visible open clusters on the sky.
